Day 2 - Fairfax, DC, Charlottesville/University of Virginia
My mom and I started out the day by going to the Virginia DMV. We got there just after eight and there was already a line out the door. Luckily it moved quickly and we were able to transfer the title and get new licence plates successfully. We spent the rest of the afternoon visiting with my grandparents.
Meanwhile Matt, Jamel, and Jack traveled on the train to downtown DC. They spent the whole day touring and saw all the sights and visited numerous museums. They returned to the Virginian around four and spent some time meeting my grandparents. After going to the store to stock up on snacks, we left for University of Virginia around 6:30. It was a smooth ride and we enjoyed the scenery of the Virginia countryside as we arrived around 8:30. The car was great and will be perfect for this long road trip.
We checked into our hotel and then walked through greek row here at UVA. It was completely deserted and most of the houses were boarded up. However we found the zeta psi and delta sigma phi chapters here but both appeared empty.
Tomorrow we will be visiting the campus here and then travelling to NC State, in Raleigh North Carolina.
I would also like to thank my grandpa for giving me his car and making this trip possible. I know we all appreciate this opportunity he has given us and I am very grateful for his generosity.

Day 1
The first day of our trip has come to an end. Jamel, Jack, and I left sea-tac at 7 am this morning. We flew to Atlanta, had a 3.5 hour layover, then flew into Dulles airport. My mom picked us up from the airport around nine o'clock eastern time and took us back to The Virginian retirement home, where we will be staying in the guest room for the night. My mom and I visited with grandma for a short time before we decided it was time for bed.
Matt arrived in Washington this morning and toured the mall for most of the day. Tomorrow Jack and Jamel will join Matt in visiting DC, while my mom and I licence and register the car and run necessary errands.

Leaving Tomorrow
Tomorrow the four of us will begin our trip together. My mom will already be in DC as she is leaving tonight for a short stay with her parents. This will be very convenient as she will be able to pick us up from the airport as well as Matt from the train station. Our flight leaves at 7am from Sea-Tac airport, so it will be an early morning for us. We have 17 exciting days in front of us!

The Beginning
Matt left Seattle this morning and arrived in Philadelphia this afternoon. He will be staying with his grandparents there until Friday when he will take the train to meet us in DC. Jack is still in Europe, but will return on Wednesday and will have a quick turnaround, as Jamel, Jack and I will leave for DC early Friday morning.
